North Fork has been the classic stop on the Mt. Baker Highway since 1997: a brewery, pizzeria, self-described beer shrine, and working wedding chapel, all in one rustic roadhouse in Deming. The pizza is hand-tossed, the beer comes off a 3.5-barrel system in small batches — British-style ales, barrel-aged Belgian sours, lagers — and the dining-room wall of vintage bottles is the shrine in question. Cascadia Weekly named it ‘Best Stop on Highway 542’ back in 2019, and we haven’t heard a better nominee since.

Worth clearing up, because it gets repeated: the building isn’t an old chapel. It’s a roadhouse that contains a wedding chapel — they really do perform ceremonies. And their Barrel House on Grant Street in Bellingham is production only, not a taproom, so don’t route there.

It sits down-valley from both cabins — about 25 minutes from the Black Cedar and 12 from the Little Red Cabin — which makes it the natural arrival-day dinner or the last stop on the way home rather than a quick evening run. It anchors our where to eat guide for a reason.

What to order

  • Hand-tossed pizza — it’s a pizzeria first, and that’s not faint praise
  • A British-style ale off the house list
  • A barrel-aged Belgian sour, another house specialty
  • Time it for happy hour: Monday through Thursday noon to 5, or all day Friday

Good to know

  • Open every day, noon to 9 p.m. — re-verified on their hours page August 24, 2026
  • Happy hour is Monday through Thursday noon to 5 p.m., plus all day Friday
  • Yes, you can actually get married there; food orders are (360) 599-2337, the business office is (360) 392-8242
  • Coming down-valley at the end of a trip? Pair it with current road conditions — this is the one dinner stop that’s already on your way out.
